Dear WIRED SpikeInterface tutorial participants,
You’ve been accepted for the spike sorting / SpikeInterface tutorial ! Congratulations, your life is about to change, so be ready. During this intensive bootcamp, you will discover all the hidden tricks allowing you to turn your amazing extracellular recordings into amazing spike trains. Be careful, there is no turning back. The program is organized as follow:
Wednesday 13/3 14:00 - 17:00
- Overview on spike sorting methods
- Overview in SpikeInterface
- Demo on generic dataset
- Hands-on on generic dataset
- Hands-on real data
Over the course, your future favorite tools (SpikeInterface, tridesclous, spyking-circus) and the magic theory behind will be presented with the option for you to follow alongside with the demonstrations. However, to make the best use of the limited amount of time and in order not to waste time for installation on site, you will need to have your own laptop with everything pre-installed and some datasets downloaded before coming to the school.
Luckily, these tools are free and they are all implemented in Python. Installation should be easy and straightforward, please do not hesitate to contact us (samuel.garcia@cnrs.fr or pierre.yger@inserm.fr) if you have any questions/problems. If you are a newbie in Python, then do not procrastinate and try to install everything asap to avoid complications.
The installation procedure is described here

The materials (notebooks) will be added to this same repository just before the beginning of the summer school. Please download the zip again prior to your arrival.
You are also invited to take some of your extracellular recordings on a drive or on your laptop, the ultimate hands-on will be to apply a good spike sorting on your own signals!
Looking forward to show you the dark side of spike sorting,
D’ici là, faisons tous attention à ne pas confondre la classe avec la coquetterie, surtout en arrivant à Paris.
