This place is dedicated to courteous and public discussion
By using this Forum, you agree to abide by the Code of Conduct of the CuttingEEG association.
We invite you to show the same degree of respect for this forum as you would for a public garden. We are also a collective resource, a place to share skills, knowledge, or tastes through written conversations.
These rules are not meant to be strictly interpreted. They are guidelines designed to provide a framework for the discernment of our community members so that this place remains friendly, caring, and conducive to courteous exchanges in public.
Contribute to the discussion
Contribute to making this forum a pleasant place to discuss by bringing something good to each message, however modest it may be. If you doubt that your message can fuel the conversation, rethink what you want to communicate before continuing to write it.
One way to contribute to discussions is to search for those that are already taking place. Spend a little time browsing those that are taking place here before replying or creating your own. This will increase your chances of meeting people who share your interests.
The topics we discuss here are important to us, and we want you to behave as if they are important to you too. Be respectful of the chosen themes and the people who discuss them, even if you disagree with everything that is said.
Be courteous, even if you disagree
You can certainly express a disagreement. But be careful to criticize the ideas, not the people. We ask you to avoid:
- Insults
- Ad hominem attacks
- Reacting to the tone of a message rather than the substance of what it expresses
- Systematic contradiction
Instead, try to provide a thoughtful point of view that can improve the conversation.
Your participation matters
The conversations that take place here give voice to every new user. Help us shape the future of this community by participating in discussions that make this forum interesting and avoid those that are not.
Discourse includes tools that allow the community to collectively identify the best (and worst) contributions: bookmarks, likes, reports, replies, edits, subscriptions, muting, and so on. Use these features to improve your own experience, as well as that of the other members.
Make sure the community is in better shape when you leave than when you arrived.
Report problems to us
Moderators have a special authority: they are responsible for this forum. But you are too. With your help, moderators will be able to make life easier for the community, rather than just serving as a police officer or janitor.
In the face of harmful behavior, don’t respond. Responding in such circumstances encourages harmful behaviors by giving them a form of recognition; you will waste your energy and everyone will waste their time. Report it, nothing more. If several reports accumulate, action will be taken, either by a moderator’s intervention or in an automated way.
For the good of our community, moderators are authorized to delete any content or any user account, at any time and for any reason. Please note that moderators are not aware of messages before they are published; moderators and site administrators disclaim any responsibility for the content published within the community.
Always be civil
Nothing like impoliteness to sabotage a good conversation.
- Be civil. Do not post anything that could be considered offensive, insulting, violent, or hateful by a reasonable person.
- Avoid profanity. Do not post anything obscene or pornographic.
- Respect others. Do not harass anyone, do not overwhelm anyone, do not impersonate anyone else, and do not reveal any personal information that is not yours.
- Respect our forum. Do not post spam or vandalize it.
These conditions are intentionally abstract and devoid of precise definitions; refrain from anything that could have the appearance of such things. In case of doubt, ask yourself: what would you do if your message ended up on the homepage of a national news site?
This forum is public, and these discussions are indexed by search engines. Make sure that the language, links, and images featured are appropriate for family members and friends.
Keep it tidy
Make sure things are in their place, so that we can spend more time exchanging and less time cleaning up. In this regard:
-
Do not create a new topic in the wrong category; we invite you to read the category descriptions.
-
Do not post the same message multiple times in different topics.
-
Do not post responses devoid of any substance.
-
Do not divert a thread of discussion by changing the subject.
-
Do not include a signature in your messages. These messages already contain information from your profile.
-
Rather than writing “+1” or “that’s clear”, use the like button. Rather than taking a topic in a radically different direction, use the “reply via linked topic” feature.
Only publish your writing
You are not allowed to publish anything that does not belong to you in digital format without the permission of its author. You may not publish any methods that aim to steal other people’s intellectual property (images, sound, video, software) or violate any other law, nor any links to such methods.
Powered by you
This site is managed by your kind admins and by you, the community. If you have a question about how things should work here, create a new topic in the dedicated category and let’s discuss it! In case of a critical or urgent problem that cannot be handled by a meta-topic or a report, you can contact us via the responsible page.
Conditions d’utilisation
Legal jargon is boring, of course, but we need to protect ourselves (and by extension, protect you and your data) from malicious individuals. We have a Code of Conduct of the CuttingEEG association that applies here as well as in any CuttingEEG activity. You must comply with it here.
